Driver Ran From Scene After Hitting and Killing Pedestrian on I-95: Police

Maryland State Police are trying to identify a pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 95 and trying to figure out who was driving the car that hit him.

“We're hoping someone saw something,” police spokesman Ron Snyder said.

The pedestrian was struck and killed on the roadway just south of Route 200.

“We don't know why that person was on there at any point in the day, especially at 11:30 at night,” Snyder said.

The driver ran from the scene.

However, police identified two passengers and said they have no reason to doubt the passengers’ story that there was a driver who left the scene, but the witnesses have not given police that driver's name.

“This is a case where early on in the investigation we have a lot more questions than answers at this point and time,” Snyder said.

Southbound I-95 in Beltsville was closed for six hours overnight while police investigated.
