Prince George's County rescue crews responded to a school bus crash in Upper Marlboro, Md., where there are reports of more than a dozen students with minor injuries.
A pickup truck struck the bus from behind about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Route 301 near Marlboro Pike, fire department spokesman Mark Brady said. The bus appears to have been stopped when it was hit.
The bus driver, who suffered minor injuries, and one of the 32 students on board, who suffered a knee injury were taken to hospital. All students' injuries appear to be very minor -- described as bumps and bruises -- Brady said. They were released to their parents.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Brady. He appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed.
The bus was loaded with students traveling from Barack Obama Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, according to Brady.
Southbound Route 301 was closed from 2:445 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
