Detectives Investigating Death in Silver Spring

Detectives are treating the death as a homicide

Police say a man was found dead inside his Silver Spring townhouse Tuesday afternoon following a welfare check by a relative.

Officers responded to a home in the 14600 block of King Lear Court around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a call from the homeowner's relative.

"A family member believed [the deceased] was either dead or severely injured," Capt. Paul Starks with Montgomery County Police said. "At this point, detectives are investigating it as a homicide."

Police said Oscar Uriel Navarro, 36, suffered trauma to his upper body.

Police have not said whether there were signs of forced entry, or how long the deceased individual had been at the home.

"I think it's tragic, particularly this time of year," a neighbor said. "I certainly hope they find out who's responsible."

Police have not released suspect or motive information.
