DDOT Announces New Traffic Light Patterns Downtown

The District Department of Transportation announced plans to change traffic signal patterns in downtown D.C. starting Friday.

DDOT said new "traffic signal timing plans" will operate at about 650 intersections through May.

The area with the new timing plans is bordered on the west by 23rd Street, NW, east by North Capitol Street, on the north by U Street and Florida Avenue NW, and I-395 to the south.

DDOT said the goal of the plan is to improve traffic flow and save drivers time behind the wheel.

The agency said it will monitor the new patterns and make adjustments in the next month.
