D.C.'s Oldest Resident Dies

Eddye Williams of NE D.C. was 112

Believed to be DC’s oldest resident, Eddye Williams of northeast D.C. died last week at the age of 112.

When interviewed by News4 on her birthday two years ago, Eddye said she preferred playing her tambourine and writing poetry to thinking about her age.

“She was one of those elders in the community we respected,” said WHUR’s Molette Green Wednesday on News4 at 4.  “She was so special to our listeners.”

Green said among Williams’ belongings was her Bible with photos inside of her favorite people: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, and Jesus Christ.
