Violence in Northwest DC

Four people have been shot in Northwest D.C. around 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Gresham Place and Georgia Avenue.

Police say about 20 shots were fired, targeting one individual.  In total, four people suffered bullet wounds.  Robert Foster Jr., age 43, of Northwest D.C., died in the shooting.

According to authorities, the shooting happened at a grassy area where many who were enjoying the Caribbean Festival were eating food and listening to music.

Police believe that the shooting stemmed from a neighborhood dispute.  They recovered two handguns - a 9-mm and a .40 caliber on the scene.

A gray Mercury car was found crashed several blocks away from the scene that authorities believe was involved in the shooting.  One of the shooting victims tried to leave the scene, but was stopped by police.

Also on Saturday evening, police said there were two other violent incidents - someone was stabbed at Georgia Avenue and W, and a fight broke out involving over a hundred people and pepper spray near the parade route.
