D.C. Taxicabs to Charge Extra $15 for Snow Emergency Starting Fri. Morning

D.C. taxicabs are going to cost you a lot more starting Friday at 9:30 a.m. when a $15 Snow Emergency Fare goes into effect.

The flat $15 fee is in addition to the metered charge.

The fare was added to encourage some taxis to remain in service as a historic snowstorm bears down on the D.C. area. The surcharge will be in effect until Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Drivers should monitor the DCTC website to be aware of any possible changes or extensions.

Riders who believe they have been charged an excessive fare or who have encountered service problems are advised to contact at 855-484-4966 or email DCTC3@dc.gov.
