D.C. Statehood Trip to New Hampshire Postponed

Legislature not in session due to snow in forecast

D.C. leaders’ lobbying trip to New Hampshire was postponed because of snow in Thursday’s forecast.

Mayor Vincent Gray, D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown, council members and other D.C. citizens planned to encourage the New Hampshire legislature to pass a resolution supporting statehood for the District.

But the legislature will not be in session Thursday because of the forecast.

While the elected officials won't be taking their scheduled flight, statehood activists affiliated with the Occupy D.C. movement are still on their way to New Hampshire by car, the Associated Press reported. Participant Sam Jewler said they still hope to meet with New Hampshire officials on Thursday.
