Man Driving Carjacked FedEx Van Shot by Police

Less than two hours after D.C. police shot and killed a robbery suspect in Southeast, officials said a man driving a carjacked FedEx van was shot by police.

That incident was reported just before 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of 15th Street NE. D.C. police chased the FedEx van to the neighborhood, where the man reportedly fired shots at officers.

"The officers fired back. The suspect was injured and transported from the scene to a local hospital," 5th District Commander Dierdre Porter said.

The suspect was conscious and breathing, and the officers received minor injuries. Police found a weapon on scene.

A witness told News4 she knows the suspect, and that he just got out of jail in the last couple of months.
