Local Rapper Killed in Shooting in Waldorf

A local rapper was killed in a shooting in Waldorf, Maryland, Tuesday night, the Charles County Sheriff's Office said.

Antonio Lamont Harper, also known as A1 Lil Tony, was getting out of his car in front of his mother's apartment on the 2200 block of Stream Vista Place when someone approached him and shot him, the sheriff's office said.

"The gunman approached Mr. Harper and shot only him and not the person who was with him," said Diane Richardson of the sheriff's office.

Harper, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are aware Harper tweeted last night, saying, "We going to keep riding around wit dem glocks until we find dem," but some say those are just song lyrics.

His aunt, Danielle Wilson, said the family doesn't know why Harper would have been targeted.

"I really don't," she said. "Right now we're just trying to take care of each other, and that's kind of secondary."

"Sadly, in our line of work, we are often reminded of how quickly tragic things can happen. It’s very tough to respond to these types of calls and then have to tell a family member something terrible has happened, knowing the notification will change their lives forever," the department wrote on its Facebook page.

Investigators do not have a suspect. Anyone with information that can help investigators should call 301-609-6513.

"Tony was a great kid, really excited about his rapping, good at what he did," his aunt said. "He loved his family."
