Your kids probably don't want to think about heading back to school yet, but you can save some money if you start your shopping now.
Maryland's tax-free week started Sunday.
That means for all the clothing and shoes you buy priced below $100, you won't be charged the 6-percent state sales tax. The tax exemption still applies if your total purchase is over the $100 mark, as long as each individual item is below $100.
Rain checks do not apply.
Maryland State Comptroller Peter Franchot hopes that the tax holiday will give retail business a shot in the arm. Officials have predicted that the tax-free week could boost sales by as much as ten percent.
