D.C. Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Infant Son's Death

A 20-year-old D.C. man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his one-month-old son last fall.

Tyrik Lamont Brown of Southeast pleaded guilty in D.C. Superior Court Thursday. The court must approve the plea; the District's voluntary sentencing guidelines call for a sentence between four and 10 years in prison, prosecutors said.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious child Oct. 29.; infant Raj'saun Tyrik Brown was hospitalized and later pronounced dead.

In November, the D.C. Chief Medical Examiner ruled the boy's death a homicide. Examiners determined the baby suffered blunt force injuries, including fractures of the skull and ribs, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The judge scheduled sentencing for April 24.
