DC Judge Charged With Assaulting Colleague in Office Dispute

A D.C. administrative law judge has been charged with assaulting a colleague at their workplace.

According to court documents, 63-year-old Joan Davenport turned herself in to police Tuesday on a charge of misdemeanor simple assault on Judge Sharon Goodie.

The incident took place March 31 at Davenport's office. An arrest affidavit says Goodie knocked on Davenport's office door to deliver files, but got no answer. It says Davenport opened the door, lunged at Goodie and tried to get her hands around her neck. Davenport allegedly struck Goodie with her shoulder, and Goodie fell into a squatting position against a wall in the hall.

The affidavit says Davenport admitted she tried to get her hands on Goodie's neck.

Davenport couldn't be reached for comment. It's unclear if she has an attorney.
