DC Firefighter Accused of Riding ATV, Crashing it in Chinatown

A D.C. firefighter was arrested Sunday for illegally riding a dirt bike on city streets, according to a police report.

Dearay Wilson, 22, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. on 7th Street NW near the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station.

According to a police report, an officer saw Wilson crash an ATV into another vehicle.

The officer arrested Wilson and charged him with operating an all-terrain vehicle in a public space.

“Dearay Wilson is an employee of D.C. Fire EMS where he works as a firefighter. He has been so for a little over a year," a spokesperson for the fire department told News4.

The spokesperson said Wilson has been placed on administrative leave.

Wilson was arrested as a huge pack of ATV riders swarmed through the city, passing through Georgetown, Logan Circle, Southwest D.C, Brentwood and Rosslyn. It is not clear if Wilson was part of the larger group of ATV riders.

D.C. police said Monday that they made three arrests and seized several of the bikes.
