More than 30 children in Washington will have their adoptions finalized as part of "Adoption Day'' at Superior Court.
The adoptions will be finalized Saturday during this year's Adoption Day ceremony. Each child and his or her family will be introduced, and a judge will then sign their adoption decree.
This is the 28th time the court has held an adoption day ceremony. All children adopted in Washington in the past year are invited to the ceremony, along with their families.
The D.C. Child and Family Services Agency says the ceremony is designed to celebrate the joys of adoption and encourage residents to consider adopting or fostering a child. The agency is currently seeking adoptive homes for 85 of the 1,100 children in foster care.
