D.C.-Bound Train Stopped Because of Respiratory Problems

Anne Arundel County, Md., fire officials said a CSX train carrying hazardous materials was stopped after leaving Washington when construction workers performing maintenance work on a rail bridge suffered respiratory problems.

Anne Arundel County fire spokesman Michael Cox said the train was stopped about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in a nonresidential area of Jessup and hazardous materials team responded to the scene, but there did not appear to be an active leak. Cox said the 98-car train included 14 with hazardous materials, of which four were full and the remaining 10 had residual amounts.

Cox said the three workers refused medical treatment.
