More Arrests in $3M Cocaine Bust

A total of 11 people now face federal charges after an ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking organization turned up nearly 30 kilograms of cocaine, weapons and cash.

The arrests came after a15-month investigation by the FBI and MPD into people thought to be wholesale distributors of cocaine in the D.C. area.  Authorities seized 29.5 kilograms from a storage locker in Maryland worth $3 million on the street.  Guns, marijuana, crack cocaine, and $25,000 in cash were also found.

Four of those arrested, 31-year-old Sean De Angelo Crawford, of D.C.; 39-year-old Shawn-Anthony Lucas, of Upper Marlboro, 32 -year-old Roscoe Edd Minns, of Laurel, and 35 -year-old Joseph Tolbert, III, also from Laurel, pleaded not guilty in court yesterday and were jailed without bond.

“This was a major drug trafficking organization that was intent on pushing millions of dollars worth of drugs on the streets of the District of Columbia,” said Chief Lanier. “The impact would have been detrimental to our community, but this operation disrupted their criminal activities.”

The remaining seven men will appear in court Wednesday.

“Today’s take-down is further evidence of our effort to turn the tables on drug traffickers that endanger our community,” said U.S. Attorney Machen. “We will be thorough, deliberate, and relentless in clearing our neighborhoods of narcotics, firearms, and the violence that they bring.”
