Crews to Shut Down Ohio Drive for Weekend Work

This weekend, crews should finish the final lift of asphalt and road markings on Ohio Drive in the District.

To do so, Ohio Drive will be completely shut down from Theodore Roosevelt Bridge over the Rock Creek Parkway to Independence Avenue at 23rd Street beginning at 11 p.m. Friday.

The road will reopen no later than 5 a.m. Monday in time for the morning rush. 

Suggested alternate routes if you're proceeding south from Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway to downtown and points east: 
  • Proceed south on Rock Creek Parkway to left-hand turn onto Virginia Ave., N.W. to right-hand turn onto southbound 19th Street to left-hand turn onto Constitution Ave., N.W.
  • Proceed south on Rock Creek Parkway to left-hand turn onto Virginia Ave., N.W. to right-hand turn onto southbound 19th Street to left-hand turn onto Constitution Ave., N.W. to right-hand turn onto southbound 17th Street to Independence Ave.,S.W., eastbound via Kutz Bridge turn-around.
Suggested alternate route heading south from Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway to Arlington Memorial Bridge: Proceed south on Rock Creek Parkway to left-hand turn onto Virginia Ave., N.W., to right-hand turn onto 23rd Street, N.W., southbound to Lincoln Circle to Arlington Memorial Bridge.
 
Heading north to Rock Creek Parkway from East Potomac Park or Independence Avenue: Use Maine Ave., S.W. to 15th (or 17th street during non-rush hour) northbound to westbound Constitution Ave., N.W. and right-hand turn onto Virginia Ave., N.W. to northbound Rock Creek Parkway.
 
Heading north to I-66/Theodore Roosevelt Bridge from East Potomac Park or Independence Avenue: Use Maine Ave., S.W. to 15th (or 17th street during non-rush hour) northbound to westbound Constitution Ave., which becomes I-66/Theodore Roosevelt Bridge once past 23rd Street, N.W.
