Crews Strike Gas Line at National Zoo

Gas line struck at a site along North Road in Northwest D.C.; everyone at the zoo is OK

Crews struck a gas line at a construction site on the grounds of the National Zoo Monday morning, but the zoo has remained open.

Zoo spokesperson Pamela Baker-Mason said the gas line was struck at a site along North Road in Northwest D.C., but all animals and people at the zoo are OK.

Some staffers reported smelling gas inside buildings, but it was determined that the scent was coming in through vents to the outside. Staffers who do smell gas are being advised to go outside as a precaution.
