County Gets More Time to Sell Prince George's Hospital System

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Gov. Martin O'Malley has signed legislation that extends the deadline for selling the financially troubled Prince George's Hospital System.

The timetable has been extended to May 2010.

The Prince George's County Hospital Authority will be able to sell Prince George's hospital center and four other county health facilities to different owners, but all parts of the system will have to be sold at the same time.

The chairman of the Prince George's County Hospital Authority said last month there are nine parties interested in buying at least parts of the hospital system, but declined to name them.
