Construction Worker Injured After Live Wire Falls

A construction worker was seriously injured after a live wire fell on top of him at a construction site in Alexandria, Virginia, Wednesday morning. 

A crane operator at the construction site in the 700 block of Wythe Street hit an electrical wire just before 7:30 a.m., Crystal Nosal with the Alexandria Police Department said. The wire fell down to the street, striking 44-year-old construction worker who was nearby.

The victim suffered electrical burns and has been taken to a local hospital. He is in critical but stable condition, according to police. 

Many traffic lights in the area were without power for a short time because of the accident.
