In Fairfax, incumbent Scott Silverthorne won another term as the city's mayor. Silverthorne beat longtime Fairfax resident Thomas Ammazzalorso, taking 57 percent of the vote.
The mayor is coming off a tough year. He was laid off from a manufacturing job last year and was diagnosed with cancer in October 2015.
This is Silverthorne's third term as mayor.
Elections for mayor were also held in Clifton, Haymarket and Fredericksburg, among other places.
