The resident bishop of the Washington area United Methodist Church says the church is mourning the death from Ebola of a physician who worked in one of its hospitals in Sierra Leone.
Bishop Marcus Matthews of the Washington Area/Baltimore-Washington Conference of the church said in a statement Monday Dr. Martin Salia was "God's angel'' for thousands of people who did not always have access to health care.
Salia died Monday a Nebraska hospital, where he had been flown from Africa after contracting the Ebola virus.
Matthews says Baltimore-Washington Conference and Great Plains Conference will be supporting the Salia family.
Those who want to contribute can send a check, with "Dr. Salia Fund'' in the memo line, to BWC Treasurer, 11711 East Market Place, Fulton MD 20759.
