Chrysler Refuses To Recall Jeeps

NHTSA asked for voluntary recall

Just two days after refusing a government request to recall millions of Jeeps for fuel leaks, Chrysler has decided to recall hundreds of thousands of jeeps for other safety problems.

The automaker is recalling about 400,000 Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass SUVs to fix airbag and seat belt problems. Chrysler is also recalling more than 200,000 Jeep Wranglers to fix transmission fluid leaks according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

These recalls come after Chrysler refused a government request on Tuesday to recall 2.7 million Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty SUVs for fuel leaks, claiming those vehicles are safe.
