The town of Chevy Chase Village in Montgomery County is apparently thinking about using money raised from speed camera tickets to help deal with its ongoing budget challenges, the Gazette reported.
Under a proposed plan, $400,000 of the camera revenue, called the “Safe Speed Fund,” would be used to pay the salaries of the town's 11-member police force.
That's about 60 percent of the officers' pay.

Currently, the town uses $366,000 from the fund to pay the force.
The village board is expected to consider the measure Monday.
