Chef José Andrés Will Help Present Best Picture Nominees at the Oscars

José Andrés is about to add another high point to his impressive resume: Helping to present best picture nominees at the Oscar's.

The famed D.C. chef and philanthropist will help introduce the eight best picture nominees alongside other big names including Queen Latifah, Barbara Streisand and Congressman John Lewis.

The Academy hasn't detailed exactly how Andrés will participate in Sunday's ceremony, but said in a statement it's excited to feature "highly recognized talents from various walks of life."

It's not his first trip to the awards, either. Andrés made a surprise appearance at the show last year as Common and Andra Day performed "Stand Up for Something." Andrés unfurled a Puerto Rican flag in support of those still coping after a damaging hurricane season.

"Black Panther," "BlackkKlansman," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "The Favourite," "Green Book," "Roma," "A Star is Born" and "Vice" are the contenders for the top prize.

Planning around the Oscar's has proved tumultuous this year: The show will go on without a host after Kevin Hart dropped out after old, homophobic Tweets surfaced and planners had to backpedal on a plan to give out awards during commercial breaks.

"Crazy Rich Asians" cast members Awkwafina and Constance Wu, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Tina Fey were among the first round of presenters announced Monday for the 91st Academy Awards.
