Some brands of canned cat food are being recalled due to possible low levels of thiamine or vitamin B1.
Certain lots of 9Lives, EverPet and Special Kitty are a part of the limited voluntary recall.
Cats fed a diets that is low in thiamine over several weeks may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency, according to the J.M. Smucker Company. Symptoms of a thiamine deficiency include: decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss.
Neurological symptoms can present in more advanced cases.
No illnesses connected to the recalled cat food have been reported.
