Bronze Vases Stolen from Va. Cemetery

Each vase was worth around $250

The King George Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of almost 200 bronze vases stolen from the headstones of graves in late December.

The vases were removed sometime between the evening of Dec. 20 and the morning of Dec. 22 from the Historyland Memorial Park Cemetery in King George, Virginia.

Each vase is valued at around $250. Sheriff's spokeswoman Kecia Wharton told Fredericksburg.com that many of the decorative flowers and other items that had been in the vases were found on the ground but that there was otherwise little vandalism.

The thefts occurred at the back of the cemetery, which is the farthest from the neighboring highway, police said.

Anyone with information about the thefts should call Detective Drew Massey at 540-775-2049.
