Boy Critically Injured in Sledding Accident Returns Home

A 6-year-old boy critically injured in a January sledding accident is out of the hospital and back home in McLean, Virginia, his uncle told News4.

Bensten Schone was sledding on a steep driveway in the 7000 block of Matthew Mills Road, across the street from his home, when he slid into a passing car. The driver, a 65-year-old McLean resident, immediately got out to help the boy, who was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A family friend told News4 Bensten fractured his skull and had some swelling to his brain, requiring a medically induced coma.

His story spread through social media when his family posted the hashtag #Pray4Bman, which even attracted the attention of the Washington Capitals. Bensten is a huge Caps fan, and the team made a video to wish him well.
