Boy Battling Cancer Becomes Police Officer for a Day

A 7-year-old boy who is battling cancer got a big surprise Friday.

Elijah Young became an honorary member of the Prince George's County Police Department.

The first order of business was getting Elijah his very own uniform and badge.

During his "shift," Elijah learned how to drive a tactical robot, met "Otto" from the K-9 unit and got on a police motorcycle.

And that was all before roll call.

"Elijah has always been into police. This is special," his mother said.

Young is battling stage 4 brain cancer. His family says he was diagnosed in 2012.

This isn't the only big surprise Young has received this week.

According to his family's Facebook page, he was named the Washington Redskins' "Fan of the Day" Thursday and spent the day with the team.

He even got a chance to score a touchdown.
