Body of Second Missing Boater Found Near Baltimore

Two boaters are dead and a third is missing following two separate accidents in the Baltimore area, the Coast Guard said Tuesday.

The Guard's Baltimore detachment said it has suspended its search pending further developments for 40-year-old John Jones after he failed to return from an outing in Cunninghill Cove near Middle River on Monday evening.

The Guard said a passer-by found the missing man's boat anchored approximately two miles from Pooles Island with no one aboard.

It wasn't immediately clear whether his disappearance was related to Monday's line of storms, Coast Guard spokesman David Martin said.

In a separate incident, the bodies of two missing boaters have been recovered near the Francis Scott Key Bridge near Baltimore.

Maryland Natural Resources Police said the body of 40-year-old David Frantzen was found Tuesday afternoon. The body of his companion, 42-year-old Brigette Marchand of Annapolis, was recovered Monday morning.

They had been reported missing Sunday on the Patapsco River.

Coast Guard crews found their empty boat around 2 p.m. Monday at Sparrows Point, where it had run aground. Frantzen's wallet and Marchand's purse were found aboard the boat.

Franzen and Marchand are believed to have left the boat on Sunday between 10 a.m. and noon.
