WASHINGTON -- First lady Michelle Obama's appearance at a downtown restaurant electrified the crowd there Friday.
Obama had lunch with Jill Biden, Mayor Adrian Fenty and Fenty's wife, Michelle, at Georgia Brown's near 15th and K streets. A crowd gathered outside and let out a chorus of Ed Sullivan Show-worthy shrieks when Obama appeared.
Only a small crowd was gathered for the unannounced arrival, but it grew while the first lady ate, and there was quite a commotion when she exited the restaurant. Cameras and cell phones were thrust in the air as presidential groupies tried to capture the moment in pictures.
