A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a bicyclist in Prince George’s County Wednesday morning.
John Gullickson, 39, of Accokeek was riding his bike southbound on McKendree Road near Accokeek Road when a car struck him from behind, police said. The driver left the scene.
A 911 caller reported seeing a man on the ground near the roadway about 6:20 a.m.
An off-duty captain with D.C. Fire and EMS saw Gullickson on his way to work and stopped to try to help him, police said.
Paramedics arrived and continued performing CPR while taking Gullickson to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gullickson’s family declined to comment to News4.
