Teen Cyclist Critically Hurt in Bethesda Crash

A teenager is critically hurt after an SUV struck him on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda, Maryland, Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The 17-year-old was riding a bicycle when the crash happened at Old Georgetown Road and Beech Avenue just before 5 p.m., fire and police officials said.

Medics took the teen to the hospital and police said he has life-threatening injuries.

Montgomery County police said the driver remained at the scene following the crash.

The southbound lanes of Old Georgetown Road were closed at Ryland Drive as police investigated the crash.
