Arrest Made in Violent Beating on Metro

Police have arrested a man in connection with a violent fight on a Metro train that was caught on camera.

Cellphone video shows riders scrambling to get out of the way when an argument between two men standing in the aisle on a Green Line train escalated.

One man punched the other repeatedly for several minutes, leaving the victim bloody and dazed.

Metro Transit Police stopped the two men when they got off the train at Southern Avenue, but the man who was hurt declined to press charges.

On Thursday, police arrested 52-year-old William Nelson and charged him with felony assault. Police say Nelson of Morningside, Maryland, is the man seen attacking the other passenger in the cellphone video.
