Arrest Made in January Triple Homicide in Southeast DC

Police have arrested a suspect in the deaths of the three men in their 20s who were fatally shot in January in Southeast D.C.

The suspect's name has not yet been released. Police will provide the name later Wednesday morning.

On the night of Jan. 26, Sean Shuler and Javon Abney, both 26, and 24-year-old Tyrik Hagood were found dead in the 1500 block of Fort Davis Place SE. Police were called to the scene just after 10 p.m. and found two of the victims fatally shot inside a car. They discovered a third victim in the middle of the street, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said.

Three suspects left the scene in a dark blue or black sedan headed toward Alabama Avenue SE, police said at the time.

"We have had too many gun crimes at the start of 2019 and too many lives lost," D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the day after the slayings. "Ending the violence is going to take more than just the efforts of MPD."
