Army: Man Killed by Sheriff's Deputies Was Soldier

Staff Sgt. Travis Bradley was assigned to the U.S. Army Research, Engineering and Development Command.

The Army says a man shot and killed by sheriff's deputies in Maryland after officials say he fired at them and threatened to "shoot it out'' was an Aberdeen Proving Ground-based soldier.

Staff Sgt. Travis Bradley was assigned to the U.S. Army Research, Engineering and Development Command, officials said in a statement Friday. The Army said officials would not release any further information before the conclusion of the investigation by the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office previously said that Bradley was killed outside his Bel Air home on Wednesday after a three-hour standoff. He was not armed at that time, but had fired at deputies during the standoff and had loaded firearms just inside entrances to the house.

The state's attorney's office will review the shooting.
