Armed Robbers Steal Taxi Cab in Northeast DC

D.C. police are searching for three men who held a taxi cab driver at gunpoint and stole his car.

The taxi driver went to a mostly residential Brookland street, the 3200 block of 16th Street NE, to pick up a fare, police said. Once he arrived, a suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the taxi driver hand over his car.

The taxi driver left the black 2016 Ford Focus, which bears Barwood Taxi markings, police said.

The suspect with the gun and two others jumped in the car. They drove off toward 16th and Kearny Street NW, according to police.

The taxi driver was not hurt. Police responded about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police continue to search for the taxi, which has Maryland plates numbered 61434B. Police said they are looking for two black men in the case. One suspect has a thin beard and was dressed in all-black clothing. The other suspect was wearing a red hoodie and a face mask.
