Suspicious Device Ruled Not a Threat During Pipe Bomb Scare in Arlington

Arlington County Police arrested one man following a bomb scare Sunday afternoon.

Officers pulled over the vehicle on S. Highland Street near Route 50 around 4:20 p.m. Sunday and saw something suspicious inside that resembled a pipe bomb.

The bomb squad was called in to check out the device, closing roads around the area.

Investigators detonated the device and determined it wasn't a threat.

A 63-year-old New York man was taken into custody for questioning. Police did not immediately release his name.

Police found drug paraphernalia inside the car.
