The James River Association is taking applications until March 20 for its floating classroom, which transports Virginia students down the 340-mile length of the James.
The 5th annual James River Expedition will be launched June 27. The educational expedition is open to rising 10th- and 11th-grade students who live within the watershed.
Students selected for the program will have the opportunity to go on one of three week-long trips that cover the expanse of Virginia's Founding River. The young explorers will learn about conservation, responsible stewardship and the river's history. They'll travel in canoes, bateaux rafts and work boats and camp along the way.
Interested students and teachers can find more information and applications on the James River Association's website.
The expedition is sponsored by the Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources.
