D.C. Police have released the identity of a woman who died in a crash involving a D.C. ambulance in Southeast Friday afternoon.
Investigators say that a 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by 31-year-old Christina Latrice King of Waldorf rear-ended a Honda Accord before striking the ambulance. The collision caused the Caravan to flip onto its roof and catch fire. The force of the collision also caused the ambulance to rear-end a Toyota Prius, which in turn rear-ended a Chevrolet Avalanche.
King was found inside the Caravan, and was apparently pronounced dead at the scene. Five other people were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. News4's Erika Gonzalez reported that police could not immediately tell if Friday afternoon's snowy weather was a factor.
Southern Avenue SE was closed between 12th Street and Wheeler Road while the accident scene was cleared. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.
