An Alexandria man will serve 21 years in prison for multiple charges relating to sexual battery and production and possession of child pornography.
Jose M. Quintanilla, 44, was sentenced Thursday to 90 years in jail, with 69 years suspended.
Prosecutors say that between 2011 and 2014, Quintanilla sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13, videotaped these assaults several times, and saved the videos electronically. Police retrieved the videos after a forensic computer examination and also discovered other images of children being sexually assaulted.
Quintanilla was sentenced for one count of forcible sodomy, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, three counts of production of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
When released, he will be on supervised probation the rest of his life.
Authorities said Friday that Quintanilla is currently in custody in Alexandria awaiting transfer to the Virginia Department of Corrections.
"My first thoughts are with the victim and the victim's family," said Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Cathryn Evans in a press release Friday. "It is our hope that in this sentence, the victim will find some small degree of closure and that the process of healing can begin."
