Victim Photos Shown in Case of Slain D.C. Socialite

Jurors in the trial of a German man charged with killing his 91-year-old wife saw graphic crime scene photographs.

Testimony continued Monday in the trial of 49-year-old Albrecht Muth, who is charged in D.C. Superior Court in the August 2011 beating and strangulation death of Viola Drath, a German journalist and socialite.

Latoya Jamison, a forensic investigator with the medical examiner's office, testified that Muth appeared “fidgety” and anxious, but otherwise emotionless, after she arrived at the house to investigate the death. She says Muth was curious to know the cause of death and how it would be documented.

Muth has denied guilt. He is participating in the trial through videoconference after doctors said his self-imposed starvation has made him too weak to come to court.
