As far as friendships between professional sports teams go, the Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals have to be at the top.

In recent years the two organizations have become the biggest fans of one another, always supporting each other's endeavors. The latest involved the Nationals delayed Opening Day on Tuesday as the team kicked off its 2021 season against the Braves after a COVID-19 pause.

Of course, the Capitals made sure to show their support in the form of an incredible meme.

For those who need a refresher, the relationship between the Nationals and Capitals really began to blossom in 2018 when the Capitals went on an incredible run to win the Stanley Cup.

Max Scherzer and Ryan Zimmerman were in attendance during the Cup run to show support, and then Alex Ovechkin and the champions partied hard at Nats Park after taking home the title.

Then in 2019 as the Nationals finished the season as World Series Champions, there were no bigger fans than the Capitals. When the final out was recorded, members of the local hockey team celebrated as if they had just won the championship. A celebration at a Capitals game for the Nationals also ensued when they brought the World Series Trophy to Capital One Arena.

Since then, the two groups have always been there for one another sharing words of encouragement and support in the big moments. Even with fans not allowed back inside Capital One Arena just yet, the Nationals sent cardboard cutouts to cheer on their friends.

The Capitals and Nationals truly are each other's world.
