YouTube Video Leads to Trouble for Felon

Va. man's guilty plea stems from online post

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- An Arlington man posted a video on YouTube of himself posing with a gun in his bedroom.

The reason for posting it isn't clear. Perhaps he was hosting an online gun show. Perhaps he was wooing a lady friend with cold, hard steel.

Whatever the reason, it probably wasn't a good one for Benjamin Hornstein.

Felons cannot possess weapons and Hornstein, 37, was convicted of grand larceny and burglary in 1994.

Arlington County police were tipped off in January and found the pistol seen in the video in a search of his home.

Since the gun was manufactured outside Virginia, the incident became a federal crime.

Prosecutors said Hornstein admitted in U.S. District Court in Alexandria on Tuesday that he filmed the video in his bedroom.

Hornstein faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing May 15.
