Worker Dies From Injuries in Dulles Collision

Tug operator hospitalized after collision with mobile lounge

An airport employee was injured in an accident at Dulles International Airport Thursday morning.

About 7 a.m. a mobile lounge carrying passengers collided with a baggage cart near the B concourse.

None of the passengers aboard the mobile lounge was injured, but the cart driver was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police are investigating.

UPDATE: The worker involved in the accident has died.  MWAA spokesperson Rob Yingling said the man was employed by Southwest Airlines.
