Woman Walks Into Virginia Motel Lobby With Gunshot Wound; Person of Interest Found Shot in Room

A woman walked into a hotel lobby and said a man shot her in the head

A man and woman in their 50s have life-threatening injuries after they both were shot Monday in a motel room in Woodbridge, Virginia.

The woman walked into the lobby of the Quality Inn at 1109 Horner Road with a bloody towel around her head, an employee said. She said a man shot her in the head.

Police received a call about the shooting about 8:50 a.m. and responded to the motel. The woman was rushed to a hospital.

She had traveled from New York with the man inside Room 240. Officers tried to communicate with him. Hotels guests near that room were evacuated from the building. Other guests were told to shelter in their rooms.

After two hours, police used a flash bang grenade in the room. They took the situation so seriously, a sniper was poised at the door.

Inside the room, a man was found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital by helicopter.

Neither person was identified by police.

Police want to talk with the man, Prince William County police department spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Perok said.

"As of right now he is an involved party. We have one side of the story, we would obviously like to have his as well to figure out what transpired here," he said.
