Man Confesses to Killing Pregnant Girlfriend Monday

Julissa Washington, 22, was four months pregnant with her long-time boyfriend, now accused of killing her

The boyfriend of a young, pregnant woman who was found dead Monday morning confessed to killing her.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Chesapeake Street SE just before 10:30 a.m., where they found 22-year-old Julissa Washington with a knife wound in her neck.

Washington was four months pregnant and news of the baby had made a big difference in her life.

"When she found out she was pregnant, it was like a whole life change," Washington's brother said. "It was like something kicked in and she started getting her life in order, everything... the way it should be."

Court documents confirm Washington's mother identified her daughter's body shortly after the attack, and pointed out Washington's boyfriend, who was on the scene, to police.

Stefon Kirkpatrick, 23, was "extremely violent and irate" toward officers, documents state.

"I want to turn myself in," Kirkpatrick said. "I did it."

Washington and Kirkpatrick had been dating for five years. Kirkpatrick has been charged with murder two while armed.
