Woman's Body Found in Potomac Near Watergate Hotel

Police are working to determine the cause of death of a woman whose body was found floating in the Potomac River Friday afternoon.

D.C. Harbor Police responded to the area just before 2 p.m. for the report of what appeared to be a mannequin floating in the water. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, and as of Saturday afternoon, police did not know what caused her death.

The woman's identity has not been released. Police say she was wearing a black shirt, blue pants, black sneakers and glasses, as well as a gold-colored ring. She appears to be between 65 and 75 years old, according to officials.
