Police have identified the woman who was found murdered in the laundry room of an Adelphi apartment building Monday morning.

Ashley Solano, 29, was found badly beaten in the laundry room of a garden-style apartment on 18th Avenue at about 9 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the laundry room was accessible from outside the building, and they were concentrating their efforts on the area around the stairwell leading to the laundry room.

Police took pictures of vehicles parked in view of the laundry room and went door-to-door talking with neighbors asking if they saw anything or anyone suspicious.

“Our detectives are working to establish a suspect and motive,” said Officer Tyler Hunter with the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Investigators say Solano's death does not appear to be random.
